Accelerating the digitalization ..Egypt’s roadmap for leading through the digital age

Broght to you by

Improving the digital infrastructure is one of the most important pillars of the digital age. It is no longer only necessary to achieve sustainable development in societies and enhance economic growth levels, but it is also one of the mechanisms for achieving countries’ ambitions towards leadership and joining the major countries in the world.
The Egyptian state has worked for years to enhance its leadership through Egypt Vision 2030, which is a comprehensive national strategy to achieve sustainable development, improve living standards, and provide a better life for citizens. At the center of this vision was the development of Egypt’s capabilities in the digital field.
Digital Egypt represents a comprehensive vision and plan and is the cornerstone for transforming Egypt into a digital society. Building digital Egypt depends on three main axes: digital transformation, digital skills and jobs, and digital creativity. These axes depend on important foundations: developing the digital infrastructure and providing the regulatory legislative framework.

Egypt’s digitalization vision 2030

Developing the digital infrastructure is one of the foundations on which the main axes of digital Egypt are based, and providing communications services and providing them efficiently and with a high degree of continuity and stability.

Egypt has an advanced international and local infrastructure, as Egypt is a major corridor for data in the world, as more than 90% of the data passing between the continents of Asia and Europe passes through Egyptian waters and lands, thanks to Egypt’s unique geographical position, and therefore it was necessary to strengthen this position, and establish Egypt’s position in this field, through expanding the international infrastructure outside Egypt, in addition to expanding the international infrastructure within Egypt, and expanding the international network of the African continent, ending with expanding data centers.

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) launched many major projects to boost the quality of the Internet speed in Egypt, and large investments were pumped in order to develop the telecomunication infrastructure, and with the implementation of the first phase of the project to improve the efficiency of the Internet network, this led to an increase in the average fixed Internet speed, making Egypt the first in Africa in the average fixed Internet speed.

Moreover, MCIT is developing an ambitious plan to provide the Internet to remote villages, which will help raise the standard of living of Egyptian citizens and achieve sustainable development, by spreading fiber optic services, increasing the number of connected homes from 180,000 to 7.5 million homes within five years, in addition to extending fiber optic cables to more than 3 million homes as part of the presidential initiative “Decent Life” “Hayat Karima”.

Egypt’s private sector, the fossil fuels of the digital age

Improving digital infrastructure is pivotal to achieving economic growth and enhancing innovation levels, as it represents a key partner in promoting innovation and achieving sustainable economic growth. With the increasing reliance on digital technology in all aspects of daily life and business, the role of the private sector has become more important than ever.

The private sector not only provides jobs and innovations, but also tells the story of growth of the nations,

It is not limited to financing digital infrastructure projects, but also includes providing innovative solutions, developing new technologies, and managing projects efficiently. Through partnerships between the public and private sectors, the pace of digital transformation can be accelerated, which contributes to improving the quality of services, increasing competitiveness, and achieving long-term sustainability.
